Mary Louise (Hastings) Marsh

Mary Louise Marsh, 72, of Edgemont, SD, passed away on February 7th, 2024 at Rapid City Monument Hospital.

Mary was born in Hot Springs, SD, to Byron and Marceline (McCloskey) Hastings on March 10, 1951.  She went to school at Edgemont.  She married Thomas Marsh on July 28, 1972,in Rapid City, SD. 

She stayed in Rapid City for a year after high school until she met Thomas Marsh. Mary went to work for Sioux Pottery in Rapid City then moved down to Edgemont in 1975. There Tom worked for the city of Edgemont. Then later both Tom and Mary went to work on Lester “Buss” Barkley's cattle and sheep ranch until moving to Edgemont in 1989. Mary would help in the local Community Action Team and in later years was an active member in the local Senior Citizens Center where she loved to make clay pottery and figurines.

Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Marsh; parents; brother, Byron Hastings III and sister, Jackie Peterson.  

Mary is survived by Son, Mitchell (Jamie) Marsh of Edgemont, SD; Stepsister, Vonna Hlavka of Henderson, NV; Brother-in-law Patrick Marsh of Edgemont, SD 

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
