Alta Beverly (Boomer) Bachofer

Box Elder - Alta Beverly Bachofer, 89, of Box Elder, SD, passed away on September 25, 2022 after suffering a stroke.
Alta was born in Witten, SD on December 23, 1932 to Donavan A. Boomer and Mildred V. Harter. She
also had an older brother, Buford, and a younger sister, Linda.
Alta met Raymond Bachofer Jr. while he was stationed at Ellsworth AFB. She got married to him in
1957. Shortly after, they had a daughter, Cindy, in 1958. They also had a son, Delray, in 1971. They
moved around the country due to her husband’s work with the FAA – Indiana, Nebraska, and even Wake
Island – before settling in Aurora, Colorado in 1974, living in Parker for most of her Colorado residency.
Raymond passed away in 1994 to cancer. For 20 years, she worked as a kitchen staff member for the
Douglas County Public School district until her retirement in 2004.
Alta was a strong matriarch of the family and was an active member of the Baptist church. She lived in
Colorado until 2021, moving back to the Rapid City area with her daughter and oldest grandson.
She is survived by her children, Cindy Gonzales and Delray Bachofer, five grandchildren, and two great-
grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, October 6, 2022 at Aurora Hills Church in Aurora, Colorado.

Graveside Services will be 9:00 a.m. Friday, October 7, 2022 at Ft. Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colorado.
